Proposing a New Graduate Certificate

Call the Office of Graduate Certificates at
813-974-2442 to discuss
the nature of the
graduate certificate to be proposed.

Open the
Graduate Certificate Proposal
form and save to your computer. (If you have difficulty
opening the form, please update to Adobe Reader 8 from
the icon in the column on the right.)Complete the form, then,
submit an electronic draft to
Certificate
Proposal for initial review.

Once the draft has been reviewed by Graduate Certificates and any
needed revisions are complete, have the proposal signed by your department chair/director. If the certificate is interdisciplinary in nature, please get a letter of support from departments whose courses are included in the certificate curriculum.

Submit the proposal to your college dean's office for review by the College Committee and the dean. Obtain the signatures of the
college committee chair and
college dean.

Submit the original, fully-signed proposal
to Graduate Certificates
in SVC1072. Keep a copy of the
signed version for your files.
Please
also send an electronic copy of
the final version of the proposal to
Certificate
Proposal
for posting on the Graduate Council web site. Once the signed proposal is received, Graduate Certificates will request that it be placed on the Graduate Council agenda for review.
Steps to Approval

Draft proposal is approved by Graduate Certificates

Proposal is approved
by department chair/director, college committee and college dean

Office of Graduate Certificates schedules review by Graduate Council

Proposal is reviewed by the Graduate Council Curriculum Subcommittee

If approved by the Curriculum Subcommittee, the proposal is then
sent to the full Graduate Council for final approval
-
Once the proposal is fully approved, the Office of Graduate Certificates
arranges for the new certificate program to be set up for student enrollment in
Banner and OASIS
