The EDT is a necessary requisite for admission to the School of Mass Communications. Designed to evaluate your basic knowledge and usage of written English language, the EDT serves to assess spelling, grammar, sentence construction, editing skills, etc. The score report that you receive after you take the test will indicate how many points you earned in each major section of the test.
Basic Rules:
1. The EDT exam will be given in SVC 2060. Bring no materials with you to the examination room except a USF Student ID or government ID. Scratch paper will be furnished. We have limited space (about 1 cubic foot) to secure your personal belongings; keep that in mind when you come to the examination room. No watches, pens, cell phones, etc. are allowed in the room while taking the EDT. You will have two hours to complete the examination.
2. Rescheduling, prior to test time, without cost will only be done under extreme emergencies which requires documentation.
3. You must wait at least 14 days before attempting the EDT again.
4. Cheating on the EDT will be treated as cheating in the normal classroom context; i.e., it will not be tolerated and the University’s ethics standards and consequences will be engaged.

this information.
2. PAYMENT – Submit your EDT $45 credit card payment at
http://www.usf.edu/testing/payment.asp
3. SCHEDULE TEST DATE - Contact Testing Services 24 hours after both steps 1
and 2 have been completed to schedule your test date/time.
Testing Schedule:
The EDT is offered Monday through Friday at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 1:00 pm and alternate Saturday’s at 9:30 am. You may contact Testing Services at 813-974-2741 for specific dates and times. Seating for this exam is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. During periods of increased demand, your first-choice of testing date and time may not be available. Examinees should register as early as possible to avoid potential scheduling conflicts.
