Florida's top three research universities.

General Registration Information/Policies

The information below applies to programs offered by Professional and Workforce Development and to programs for seniors offered by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Some programs may have special policies and requirements, which are posted on the appropriate web page.

Register Early!

Early registration (at least 7-10 days prior to course start date) allows sufficient time to mail your registration confirmation, parking permit and textbook information. A late fee is effective five days prior to the course start date. If you do not receive your registration confirmation within seven days of registering, call 813-974-2403, option 1, to verify enrollment. Registrations/walk-ins are not accepted on the course start date and cannot be accepted by the instructors.

Please note: Your registration for University of South Florida Continuing Education
(USF CE) noncredit programs does not confer status as an enrolled student at the university. Noncredit students/participants do not receive library privileges, email access, student ID cards, wireless access, or other university services that are supported by credit programs or student activity fees.

Changes to USF Continuing Education
Payment Procedures

The university has implemented a ‘credit card only’ directive for all payments. Continuing Education has not accepted cash payments for several years. Please note the following:

  • Effective February 15, 2008 – Only credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card) and company-approved purchase orders will be accepted.

Credit cards provide customer safeguards by providing secure online transactions and reducing liability in the event of fraud. As an added advantage, credit card refunds for withdrawals/transfers/cancellations are processed and posted electronically, which is much faster than a check refund – 5 to 7 days versus 6 to 8 weeks.

5 Ways to Register/How to Register

You can register online, by phone, by fax, by mail, or in person:

Register Online

(For step-by step-instructions, see How to Register)

Online registration with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express) is available for most noncredit continuing education courses. Click on "All Scheduled Programs" under "Quick Links" on the top navigation bar for an updated list of courses with links to online registration. You can also browse our site at www.outreach.usf.edu/conted, navigate through the various program areas which display individual course links, and click on the session links below each currently offered course.

To use our secure site for course registration, you will need to establish your online login ID (your email address) and password. Instructions for new and returning customers are included in the How to Register page. NOTE: If you recently changed your email address, call 813-974-2403 to update your record.

Note: As a training provider, some programs require the inclusion of your social security number for enrollment verification or professional certification. This requirement will be stated in the program overview.

Information you exchange with this site is secure and cannot be viewed or changed by others. Credit card information is encrypted and used for payment processing.
(To see if a site is secure, look for any of the following: a closed lock symbol; a site address/URL starting with "https://" or a message box confirming the transmission is secure.)

An automatic verification of your registration request will be sent by email. Your official confirmation receipt will be mailed along with a parking permit (if applicable), maps, and any appropriate inserts within three business days. Registration Fees and Policies

When registering with USF Continuing Education, you agree to our registration policies for withdrawals, refunds, and stated fees.

Course Fees

You must register prior to course start date. Fees are posted for each course. For PWD programs, a late fee is effective five days prior to the course start date. The late fee is $25 for courses up to $500, $50 for courses $501-$2,000, and $150 for courses over $2,000. Senior programs do not have late fees. Note: A course must meet its minimum enrollment five days prior to the start date.

Some programs have special registration procedures and requirements.  These are posted on the program/course web page. Some online courses/programs may have different late fee, cancellation, withdrawal and/or refund policies. Check the online program description for details.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express, company-approved purchase orders payable to USF Continuing Education. Personal checks, money orders, and cash are not accepted per university policy.

Attendance/Re-sitting Option

To complete our open enrollment noncredit courses satisfactorily, you must attend 80% of the scheduled class meetings. If you do not meet the 80% criteria, and wish to complete the course satisfactorily, a re-sitting fee of $45 (plus parking) is charged for each day required to achieve the 80% standard. You must register to re-sit specific missed class(es) within one year of the course/program offering, or the time limit established for the start of your certificate program.

USF CE reserves the right to cancel courses not reaching minimum enrollment which may affect your ability to achieve the 80% attendance criteria through the re-sitting option. The re-sitting fees are refunded only if the class is cancelled.

Course Withdrawals/Transfers/Refunds

USF CE reserves the right to cancel any noncredit course, in which case registration fees are fully refunded. If it becomes necessary for USF CE to cancel, postpone or combine courses, change instructors, or change a course location, you will be notified by email or phone, so it is important that we have your current contact information. If a course is cancelled, you may transfer to another course during the same term or receive a full refund. If a registration is received after the enrollment limit has been reached, a full refund, including parking fees, will be issued.

If you withdraw more than five days prior to the course start date, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee, or you may apply it to another course within the same term and pay any difference in the fees.

If you withdraw one to five days prior to the course start date, you will be charged an administrative fee of $35 for courses up to $500, $75 for courses $501-$2,000, or $200 for courses over $2,000 and refunded the remainder of the registration fee. You may transfer to another course within the same term for a $35 transfer fee and pay any difference in the fees.

See information on Parking Permit Refunds below.

Allow 5-7 working days for credit card refunds, 6-8 weeks for check refunds.

Requests for withdrawals, refunds or transfers must be in writing. Submit requests via email to CEwithdrawal@admin.usf.edu or fax to 813-974-5421. No refunds or transfers will be issued after course start date. When registering with USF CE, you agree to our registration policies for withdrawals, refunds, transfers, and stated fees.

For OLLI-USF senior programs, there is a $15 administrative fee to withdraw from a course. Please email your request to Ara Rogers, arogers@admin.usf.edu. No refunds are issued after class start date.

Note: Some programs/courses have special refund policies and requirements. These are posted on the program/course web page.

Parking Fees/Refunds

USF requires valid parking permits for vehicles parked on its campuses at all times.

Discount Parking Permit: When you register for a Continuing Education course, you may purchase a discount parking permit ($2.50 per weekday/no charge for Saturday) for that course. Continuing Education discount permits are valid only for the person, course, day(s) and date(s) specified.

If a discount parking permit is not purchased prior to the course start date, a daily ($4) parking permit must be purchased for each individual course meeting/day at a vending machine located in USF parking lots. USF faculty, staff and credit students should use their current USF parking permit for Continuing Education courses.

Parking Locations: Continuing Education course participants must park in designated visitor and nonresident student lots between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., you may park in other lots except for Resident lots. Do not park in marked restricted areas or reserved spaces!

Disability Parking: When parking in a “disabled permit only” space, you must display a valid USF parking permit and your disabled permit.

Parking Permit Refunds: The discount parking permit is a separate purchase. Parking permit fees will be refunded only if permits are returned within two weeks of withdrawal/transfer date. Mail the permit in an envelope to the address on the back of the permit. If you transfer, you will need to purchase a new permit prior to the course start date.
