USF Professional and Workforce Development programs are geared to help you gain new, updated or complementary knowledge and skills to advance yourself in a chosen career field. Do you want to make a career change? We can help you explore career options and choices to meet your future goals. Courses are offered at USF Tampa and the USF Downtown Center at the Port Authority Building on Channelside Drive. We also work closely with area companies to bring courses and tailored programs to their locations to better serve their employees’ needs. Foreign or English Language Skills - Our foreign language courses can help you develop the basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills used in travel and business. You will build your confidence in speaking through interactive classroom activities and projects. If you are a non-native speaker of English, we also offer courses to help you reduce your accent, improve your oral communication, build your vocabulary, refine your writing, and increase your reading speed. Human Resource Management - Our HR Management Certificate courses provide a comprehensive, practical foundation for HR generalists. People employed in HR will acquire a broader understanding of their profession, gain skills required for advancement, and can acquire an educational credential in HR. New HR staff and career transitioners will receive a solid HR foundation. We also offer preparation for the national PHR/SPHR examinations. Our Professional in Human Resources program is designed to help HR professionals prepare for the Human Resource Certification Institute's (HRCI) National Examination for the Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) designation. For applicants with a minimum of four years HR management experience, we also offer an intense three-day SHRM-sanctioned Senior Professional in HR Review course to prepare you for the SPHR Certification examination.
