Course Offered via World Wide Web

World Wide Web
Courses are offered online via the World Wide Web; an active e-mail account and Internet access is required. Most web based courses are accessed through BlackBoard at my.usf.edu and OASIS may list a website and other information. Contact the department or instructor for course details, to determine if any face-to-face meetings are required, and for information about specific hardware or software needs.

Watching Webcast Video? Your computer needs to be able to receive 2 megabits per second. If you are having difficulty viewing online video, please check your speed at Speedtest.net or direct questions to IT help@usf.edu

Elluminate provides a virtual meeting space where instructors and student groups meet, hear each other and share documentation. It is often used with online work in a blended course to give students synchronistic meeting times to accompany their live multi-media collaboration. Note that your computer needs a microphone and speakers or appropriate headphones to be able to talk and hear while you are in the Elluminate meeting. Check the support site to determine if you have the correct software and to download it for free if you don't have it: http://www.elluminate.com/support

Course Offered via Studio Broadcast

ITV/Digital Video
Instructional televised courses using digital video originate in specially equipped studio classrooms and are received at other USF campus locations at the same time or on a tape-delayed basis. This format allows two-way audio, one-way video communication between originating and receiving sites.

telecourse

Telecourse
Telecourses are broadcast on WUSF-TV and the Education Channel (for Bright House cable subscribers in Hillsborough County), DVDs or VHS tapes may be rented for the semester or purchased, and many telecourses are available as video-on-demand using the Internet. Telecourses typically use a web component (BlackBoard at my.usf.edu) for syllabus and other instructional content; an active e-mail account and Internet access is required. A few face-to-face meetings on campus are required for some telecourses; contact the department offering the course for additional information. Please refer to the telecourse listings in the catalog and contact the department offering the course for additional information. Most telecourses meet Liberal Arts General Education Requirements; please contact your advisor to confirm if courses are appropriate for your academic program needs.

videoconf

Videoconference
Videoconferencing is an interactive process that allows students and faculty to see and hear each other at multiple locations in “real-time.” Locations include all four USF campuses and selected community sites.
